This day...

Guess what day it is? This innocent post from 10 years ago may give you a hint!

It's a day to say thank you to all the players and especially to the many, many contributors we had and have throughout this time. What was said back 4 years for our going 1.0.0 still is true, even more true: it was a lot of work of hundreds and thousands of people, coding, drawing, composing, translating, both directly this game or on third-party projects like the graphics, sound and music sets or libraries used by this game.

Also a big thank you to OVH who currently generously sponsors our hosting and bandwidths needs.

Last but not least also a big thank you to our mirrors which make it possible to deliver our binaries fast and reliably to you :)

What is your OpenTTD story? How did you discover it? What is your funniest, scariest, or otherwise most memorable OpenTTD experience? Tell us!

OpenTTD 1.4.0-beta5

Here is the next beta release of the upcoming stable branch. There's a number of new feature, especially related to game scripts. But you now can also go BIG, maps up to 4096 x 4096 tiles are now feasible.
The list of fixes is also quite notable. Among them crashes related to threaded drawing. We also hope to have fixed a nasty desync bug which could occur with earlier releases related to bancrupting or autocleaned companies. A full list of changes can be found here.

Please test also this new beta extensively and help to make the 1.4.0 release the best release ever :) If you find any bugs, please report them to our bug tracker. If you have questions, please make use of our forums.

If your the translation into the language of your choice is lacking, now is a good time to bring it into good shape (see our web translator and the FAQ for how to apply) Only this way you can make sure that the final 1.4.0 will have a full and complete translation. At his point I'd also like to draw your attention to the ongoing vote for the new title game.

Enjoy,
Your OpenTTD team

Vote for the titlegame

Submission deadline for the titlegame contest is now over and the entries are up for a vote now.

You are now asked to choose your favourite savegame(s). You can easily browse the screenshots in your browser from the titlegame competition page or also get a download of all savegames and screenshots.

Voting round 1 ends 1 March 2014, 00:00:00 UTC.
Votes can be cast by sending me a message at the tt-forums or by sending an e-mail to me which list at most three favourite entries. Rank these entries in order, your 1st choice is worth 3 points, your 2nd choice two points and number three choice one point.

The votes in this first round will be used to create a shortlist of three entries which will be put up to the final vote.

OpenTTD 1.4.0-beta4

Time for the next beta release, OpenTTD 1.4.0-beta4.

The speed limit is now also reported for road bridges. Of course it also comes with a number of fixes, including one crashy one related to cargo flow graphcs. See details in the changelog.

You can obtain it as usual from our website. If you encounter any bugs, please report them to our bug tracker.

As reminder: Now is a good time to complete and review translations; if you're not yet a translator, feel free to apply.
Creative players are still encouraged to participate in the titlegame competition, deadline is 15th February.

Enjoy,
Your OpenTTD team

OpenTTD 1.4.0-beta3

It's again time for a new beta. The cargodist and autorefit got tested well, several bugs got squashed. The new SSE blitters were also further improved. Not immediately noticable but useful in the future, are the new string codes to display amounts of cargo in NewGRFs. For our Korean users, the separators in numbers were fixed.

As usual, enjoy the third beta release of OpenTTD 1.4.0. If you find a bug, please report it at our bug tracker.

There are still 26 languages with missing translations (see the status overview for details). The following 15 languages need a new translator most:

  • Arabic (Egypt)
